Traditionally these have been used in Europe, North Africa and Asia as a laxative.  It is usually the husks and seeds of the plant that are used and they can also be known as ‘flea seed’.  They are full of fibre which is very effective at removing waste quickly and effectively. 

In addition, the husks can offer nutritional support and provide a good all round way of cleansing the intestines.
